Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday directed the officers concerned to ensure that the State Archaeological Museum, to be constructed in Panchkula, is made tourist friendly.
Presiding over a meeting here, the Chief Minister said that arrangements should be made to provide adequate facilities to the visitors visiting the museum.
During the meeting, it was informed that an amount of about Rs 60 crore will be spent on the construction of the museum, which will be built on 1.83 acres of land. The cost of interior designing and finishing will be decided later. The officers of the concerned department gave detailed information through a presentation about the museum building to the Chief Minister.
Khattar directed that to ensure a favourable atmosphere for tourists visiting museum premises, an open garden having various varieties of flowers should be developed in the middle of the museum building. He said the open garden will not only rejuvenate visitors, but they will also visit the museum with enthusiasm.
He said that there should also be adequate arrangements for a cafeteria in the building, adding that since children and women will also be visiting the museum, therefore, arrangement of crèches and baby feeding rooms in the building should be ensured. He also directed the officers to explore the possibilities of setting up a gymnasium.
It was informed in the meeting that not only historical information will be made available in this museum, but researchers will also do research work by visiting here and for this library and research lab will also be set up in the building. Documents from the British period will also be made available in the museum.
The Chief Minister was apprised that efforts should be made so that the building gives a glimpse of Indus Valley and Harappan culture. The museum will also have an e-library and a strong room will be built in the building.
CM DIRECTS TO PUBLISH BOOK ON HISTORICAL AND HERITAGE MONUMENTS IN HARYANA
The Haryana Chief Minister also directed to publish a book containing information about historical and heritage monuments located in the state so that every child can be made aware of the glorious history of Haryana.
He said that to make the information accessible to the children, the step of constructing a ‘Historical Memorial Corner’ (Heritage Corner) in every school will prove to be effective. While on one hand the details of the glorious history of the state will be written, on the other, there will also be information about historical monuments, in this memorial corner. Information about the major historical monuments of every district and archives of the Department of Archeology will be available in every school in the district.
Information related to important places of the state will be available in every school in the state. Initially, these corners will be built in 100 schools. Later these corners will be established in all schools of the state. In every school, the replicas of historical items will be maintained. The Department is also working towards adding historical information in the school syllabus. Soon a chapter will be added in this regard in the school syllabus while training related to this will be given to history teachers so that they can pass on the knowledge to the students.
Haryana Archaeology & Museums Minister, Anoop Dhanak, Woman and Child Development Minister, Kamlesh Dhanda, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary Haryana, Archives, Archaeology & Museums Departments, Ashok Khemka, Deputy Chief Secretary to Chief Minister, Ashima Brar and Director, Archaeology & Museums Department, Mandeep Kaur were also present in the meeting.
