At least six shops were gutted in a blaze near Bokaro General Hospital (BGH) at Bokaro Steel City last midnight. The fire engulfed three hotels, one cosmetic shop and two fruit shops, police said.
Around 12.01 am on Monday fire broke out which engulfed the shops. After the stiff struggle of seven fire brigades and firefighters, the fire got controlled after several hours which destroyed goods including others in several lakh rupees, told an eyewitness.
Shops of Raja Ram, Vikash, Raj Thakur, Surendra, Lakhiram and RK Yadav were gutted by fire, he said.
The fire tenders succeeded in dousing the fire, after a long struggle of five hours. “More than seven firefighting vehicles and local peoples were joined hands for the rescue,” added another eyewitness.
The Shop owners alleged that some unsocial elements put the shops on fire, while a fire official said we are probing the reasons behind the eruption of fire, though there are very little chances of short circuit.
“Right now its’ quite difficult to access the actual loss but it may be assumed in lakhs,” said the official.
