Priya Chaurasia and Rinku Bathra of Mandsaur topped the Madhya Pradesh Higher Secondary Board exam. Both the students secured the first position in the PCM stream.
The results of Class XII board exams of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) were declared here on Monday. Rinku and Priya have topped the exams with 495 marks.
Charausia is the daughter of a tea –seller who owns a shop at the local bus stand. Despite her humble background, her father kept urging her to excel in studies. “Hard work and distancing from social media was my mantra,” said Priya who claimed that she distanced from social media altogether as she reached class XII.
Besides, in the commerce stream, Mufaddal Arbiwala from Neemuch stood first with 487 marks and Vivek Gupta from Bhopal secured 486 out of 500 marks.
Vivek’s father runs a small general store in Bhopal. "I always wanted to stand out in a crowd and progress in life so I worked hard to earn a place in the merit list, Vivek said. Once you work hard and earn laurels, you can always enjoy your life later" shared Vivek. He added saying your respect tends to grow after you achieve success in your studies."
Moreover, aspiring to be Chartered Accountant, Vivek has secured 42nd rank in CA prelims.
Khushi Singh from Rewa secured 486 marks and topped in Arts stream. She used to study six to seven hours daily and reviewed her academic preparations under the guidance of his father who is a school teacher.
Among notable achievers was Bharat Arya, son of a security guard Chunnilal Arya, who secured second place in the merit list in Biology stream. "Our family is feeling proud after Bharat secured a place in the merit list", said his father Chunnilal.
Around 7.84 lakh students appeared for XII board exams this year. This year, the pass percentage has dipped significantly from the last year recorded at 68.81 per cent. Last year, the pass percentage was 72.37 per cent.
The girls have outperformed boys, with a pass percentage of 73.40 per cent, while the pass percentage of boys is 64.66 per cent. Greeting achievers on the occasion, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged the kids to work hard for a bright future. Empathising with those who are left with failure, Chouhan said that they need not feel disheartened as ‘Ruk Jana Nahin’, the scheme offers them a chance to appear in failed subjects again.
