Police to act against bikers

Tuesday, 31 March 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

Following reports of some people frequently flouting the lockdown guidelines and moving around by motorbikes in the city on the pretext of purchasing vegetables or groceries, police have warned of stringent action against them.

The Capital police on Monday seized a number of bikes at the Unit-1 daily market and took them to the police station.

The cops asked people to purchase groceries and vegetables from shops or markets which are located at walking distances in their localities.

Action would also be taken against those not putting on masks and gloves required to prevent coronavirus infection.

Giving an example, a police official said that despite the lockdown people from as far as Chandrasekharpur and its vicinity are travelling to the Unit-1 market by their bikes.
