Parliamentary Secretaries meant to stifle crisis in government: BJP

Wednesday, 15 July 2020 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has made a U-turn and appointed Parliamentary Secretaries after opposing it bitterly when the BJP was in power in a bid to curb dissidence within the ruling party, the BJP said on Tuesday.

Interacting with the media after Parliamentary Secretaries were appointed on Tuesday, Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said the erstwhile BJP government’s decisions were correct in the eyes of law.

That is why the Congress government is continuing with the same policies and works, he said, adding that in the present scenario it was meant to avert a crisis in the administration.

Over the years, the Congress opposed the BJP's policies just for the sake of opposing them,    without worrying about the rights and wrongs, Kaushik added.

Meanwhile, former BJP Minister Rajesh Munat sought an unconditional apology from Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other Congress leaders for opposing the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries while in the opposition.

Now against 13 cabinet Ministers, 15 Parliamentary Secretaries have been named, he said.

The BJP leader said the Congress government had in the last 18 months refrained from appointing Parliamentary Secretaries, but recent            developments in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan have broken the slumber.

The Congress has split and lost power in Madhya Pradesh and is now battling an internal crisis in Rajasthan.
