Palamu police goes for border sealing with care, sympathy

Tuesday, 31 March 2020 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Sealing borders to stop desperate labourers coming over here from far off places outside the state is far more a tough task than asking people to keep indoors, said sources in police in Palamu.

District opens borders with other districts and other states too and since it is a very in thing and domestic affair the borders be it with district or with other state is too wide, vast and porous said sources.

A cop requesting anonymity said, “For two days we were arranging rice, turmeric, potatoes, salt, edible oil etc to cook khichdi to feed the hungry and now we are to stop our own district men and women not to reach home without getting quarantined which is too good for their health and the health of their families.”

SP Palamu Ajay Linda said, “Palamu district has inter-district borders and interstate border like Bihar. For our inter district border like with Garhwa and Latehar our strategy is different but for our border with other state my boys and officials are on live wire 24X 7.”

Linda agreed border is too vast, wide and porous besides roads like NH, SH and other rural connectivity there are numerous cross country lanes which to expect orbelieve that a normal resident of Palamu may not be knowing those hidden routes will be to live in delusion.

The SP said, “We are keeping eyes on NH and SH both. I wish forest department officials should alert their forest guards, foresters, rangers to keep a tab on people negotiating any jungle route as well to reach home by ducking their own beneficial health screening.”

Sources said Palamu has irrigational canals at Hussainabad/Mohammadganj and canal routes are the safest passage for clandestine entry. Linda said cops are alert at Mohammadganj, Hussainabad, Dangwar, Harihurganj, which is few meters away from No Man’s Land and thereafter starts Bihar.

SDPO Sadar Sandip Kumar Gupta said,  “We have barrier set up at Satbarwa which opens to Latehar district. Any gathering coming over here will be stopped for screening for health and if then a quarantine in the nearby government building for their safety of lives.”

Gupta said, “Under order of SP Linda cops at seal points are trying hard to convince home comers to be patient and understand the delicacy of time.
