Palamu has made sincere preparations to fight coronavirus. DDC Palamu Bindu Madhav Prasad Singh has sent a report of district’s preparedness to Dr Madhav Sharan Singh, director provident fund who is also registrar chit fund, Jharkhand, additional charge of chief accounts controller finance only this March 28 wherein DDC has given a detailed note.
The DDC said, “Till March 28 a total of 3,857 individuals have been home quarantined here in Palamu. A fleet of 269 quarantine centres has been set up in the rural of Palamu while 25 such have been set up in the urban areas taking the total number of quarantine centres to 294.”
He further said, “There are just 1,261 beds available here.” There are in all 35 health facilities which includes district hospital, sub divisional hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres etc.
Sources said the number of beds here is too dismally low as Palamu has seen patients lying on the floors of the hospitals/ community health centres in just localized spread of diarrhea.
About isolation beds the DDC gave its figure 60 till March 28. He felt relieved to say that till March 28 there has no case or report of any case in regard to respiratory distress or fatality any on this count as respiratory distress and renal collapse are the two classic symptoms of coronavirus.
The officer said the district administration is seeking allotment for disbursement of pension from coming April to June as what he claimed pension has been debited to pensioners account till march.
There are 90 NH 95 masks, 900 triple layer masks, 12 personal protective equipment and 13 VTM to collect swabs of oral cavity and nasal cavity.
The DDC said 187 magistrates have been deployed in the district but it is also a big fact that it is only police that is most visible and this visibility of cops is not for their uniform but for their intervention in common lives to save them from more pains and sorrows.
There is no ventilator in any of the government hospital here except 8 such which are in private hospital here located in the district read DDC’s letter.
Sources said the number of government doctors and private doctors here in Palamu is equally too poor with 64 government doctors and 53 private doctors in which the number of dentists and orthopedic doctors is no less.
