Open Puri temple, urges Daitapati chief

Chief Daitapati of Lord Jagannath, Jaganath Swain Mahapatra on Monday urged the State Government to open the Shreemandira for pilgrims and tourists on larger interest.

Swain Mahapatra said that due to restriction into shrine the people  had gone mad as they had been missing darshan of the Lords for a long time now. He told lakhs of people in the city were living in a dire straits due to joblessness because of shutdown of temple for devotees. He further told that due to restrictions,tourists and pilgrims were not coming to Puri, which had ruined local economy. “Many temples have already been opened in some places. 

Likewise, Government should open Jagannath Temple and allow pilgrims in small groups and in phases by making them ensure social distancing,” Swain Mohapatra told.
