A firefighting team in Chhatrapur of Ganjam district won hearts of many for its prompt action to save two lives, including that of a septuagenarian woman, from a 40-feet deep well. The incident was reported from Kumarbegapalli village under the Chhatrapur police limits.
The 75-year-old woman Arnapurna Gouda had fallen into the well at around 8 am. Her son Tirupati Gouda (55) jumped into the well to save her.
While the mother-son duo was struggling to the get out of the well, the firefighting team reached the spot after being informed by villagers, launched a two-hour-long rescue operation and managed to rescue the two from the well. As woman’s condition was critical in the incident, she was admitted to the local Sub-Divisional Hospital for treatment.
