Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Saturday said various steps have been taken by the State Government to strengthen the road network in the State.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, said this while addressing the grievances of the people in Sirsa district.

He said that recently the Central Government under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana has approved an amount of Rs 383.58 crore for Haryana to further strengthen road network by constructing as many as 83 roads in eight districts of the State.

Chautala said an amount of Rs 84.93 crore will be spent on the upgradation (strengthening and widening) of 11 roads of 131 km length in Sirsa district.  Besides this, Plastic waste will be used for upgrading (repair, widening, strengthening) of these roads, due to which the quality of the roads will increase and the public can avail the facilities of these roads for a longer period.

The Deputy CM said that 11 roads in Sirsa district that will be upgraded include road from Daulatpur Khera village of block Baragudha via Raghuana, village Bupp to Puuca upto Punjab Border via Jhiri, Panjmala, Thiraj, Desukhurd, Phaggu, Kamal,  Pucca.  Likewise, the road from Gidder Khera to Aboobshahar of block Dabwali will be constructed.

Similarly, road from village Dhani Jatan to Budhimari via KhariSurera, Mithi Surera, Mamera, Talwara Khurd to Kuttabadh via Thobria, Budhimari, Patti Kripal, Himayukhera, Rattakhera and Ellenabad to Dholpalia via Dhani Naiyan road in Ellenabad Block.

He said that the Development and Panchayat Department has prepared a special plan for plastic waste management and for this, plastic waste management has been linked with road construction. Plastic waste will be used for the road up-gradation work, he asserted.

For this, the Development and Panchayat Department will ensure the availability of plastic waste from villages to the Public Works Department. He said that the roads made of plastic and those upgraded with the plastic will certainly have a longer life and this will also lessen the construction cost.
