After putting the LED light strings made by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) on display, the Dehradun district administration has already sold the light strings worth more than Rs 1.50 lakh within four days. On this Monday, the district administration put the LED light strings made by local women on display in some marketplaces, Vikas Bhawan, Pacific Mall and Uttara Haat. Informing about this in detail, the Block Mission Manager (BMM) Rohit Nautiyal said that the response has been good from the public so far.
"People are buying the light strings and we are regularly restocking them too. Since November 2, we have sold light strings worth over Rs 1.50 lakh. We are also planning to bring new designs of LED light strings for customers to have different choices," stated Nautiyal. According to the officials, the products are being sold at reasonable prices and the current price range of an 11 metre long LED light string is between Rs 150 and Rs 250. However, they also informed that the customers are being given discounts too as per their purchases and since the administration will come with more different modes and designs of the light strings, the price range may vary too. Meanwhile, Nautiyal further informed that the administration will continue the display at the current stalls except the Pacific Mall after Diwali too.
"Due to approaching Diwali festival we are focusing on LED light strings but after that we will keep updating our displays with other products like chargeable bulbs among various other items," added Nautiyal. According to him, the initial response of the locals has been astonishing and the administration will continue to provide more locally made quality products in the future too.
