Corporate houses take innovative steps

In response to COVID-19, corporate houses are taking innovative measures to ensure safety and betterment of people. Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant has stepped up its humanitarian efforts by donating  grocery baskets to daily wage workmen, contractual employees and migrated workers currently residing in and around Telco  Colony. The company distributed baskets to over 100 families today and aims to reach out to all those who are most affected  by the pandemic, in the next few days.

As a part of the company’s ongoing initiative to fight against COVID – 19, Tata Motors Jamshedpur has been running several  awareness campaigns in the society and has been distributing protective face masks and hand sanitizers. Additionally, the  Tata Motors Jamshedpur hospital has set-up a 24X7 help line number to address queries. The company has also identified  special Quarantined Units to address emergency cases.

Commenting on this Pallavi Roy, senior manager, Communications, Tata Motors said: “We are extremely saddened by the terrible impact thatcoronavirus is wreaking on lives and livelihoods everywhere. We, at the Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant, have taken several  steps to provide a safe & a healthy environment for all our employees and communities that we serve.

Meanwhile, Tata Steel has made arrangements for 507 Isolation beds and 77 critical care beds with invasive and non-invasive ventilators is in the process of being set-up at TMH, Jamshedpur. A total of 130 Isolation bed facility is already operational at 8TMH.

In view of such a situation and also to enable success of the nation’s war against Corona, the East Singhbum district administration, in collaboration with Tata Steel and Annamitra Foundation, has taken an initiative titled #ThoughtforFood to provide one warm meal per day to the daily wage earners. This initiative, beginning today, will continue until the lockdown persists. This will be done with the help of volunteers from Tata Steel, Red Cross Society, and ex-service men.

Chandan Kumar, SDM, Dhalbhum, briefed the volunteers of the programme today at Dhatkidih Community Centre.

 The food will be prepared at the hygienic Mid-Day Meal Kitchen of Annamitra Foundation. Ingredients for food preparation shall be provided by the District Administration and Tata Steel. The distribution to the people in different community centres and schools shall be carried out by Annamitra Foundation and volunteers from Tata Steel, Red Cross and Ex-Servicemen from 12 noon to 3 pm every day.

Moreover, JUSCO has installed full body sanitization system at its entry point for people/employees/ entering the premises.

The Company is working to ensure that there is no interruption in basic civic amenities for the citizens of Jamshedpur during this period. JUSCO is continuing to provide the basic civic amenities like water and electricity. The company is ensuring regular cleaning, fumigation and sanitization, garbage collection and disposal in Jamshedpur. On a daily basis we are collecting approx. 248 tonnes out of which 55 tonnes is segregated waste.
