Bharat Ratna demanded for freedom fighter Rajkumar Shukla

An international seminar-cum-discussion was organized on the 145th birth anniversary of Pandit Rajkumar Shukla, the great freedom fighter who convinced Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi to visit Champaran for the Champaran Satyagraha.

The participants attending the seminar demanded Bharat Ratna for Shukla. Raj Kumar Shukla, born in 1875 at Satwaria village in West Champaran, was instrumental in convincing Mahatma Gandhi at the Congress session in Lucknow in 1916 to visit Bihar and see the plight of indigo farmers at the hands of the British plantation owners.

The function was broadcast live on three channels channels simultaneously in the world. Educationists, writers, executives, Hollywood, Bollywood film actors and directors from all over the world participated in the function. The program was inaugurated by Padma Shree Dr. SN Subbarao. The theme of the program was: "Pandit Rajkumar Shukla's contribution to the independence of India". On this occasion, Dr. Subbarao said that the history of Mahatma Gandhi is incomplete without Rajkumar Shukla because it was Shukla who convinced MK Gandhi to visit Champaran.  During that time there was limited traffic resources Shukla who was a farmer by profession, visited Kolkata, Lucknow, and Gujarat convincing Gandhi to visit

The program was presided over by Ajay Rai, president of Pandit Rajkumar Shukla Foundation.

Rai said that history of Rajkumar Shukla should be re-evaluated in a big way.On this occasion, the film actor Rajesh Jais said that Mahatma Gandhi in his book has written about Shukla’s truth, non-violence and human values.

On this occasion, the Principal of DPS School and President of Sahodaya, Dr. Ram Singh said that the Department of Education should include Rajkumar Shukla life and contribution to society in the school curriculum so that younger generations learn about his contribution.
