B’swar senior citizens decry Covid mismanagement

The Senior Citizen Forum of Baleswar, expressing concern over the manner the Covid-19 pandemic is handled in the district, has urged the administration to take adequate measures to prevent loss of lives due to mismanagement and callous approaches of officials.

In a meeting chaired by Forum president Baidyanath Sarangi, the members stated that since their community is in the most vulnerable age group and demanded that testing for coronavirus be conducted for them on a priority basis ensuring a separate queue for them.

The forum also expressed its dissatisfaction with the district administration since a promised dedicated geriatric ward for the senior citizens in the District Headquarters Hospital is yet to be opened due to the apathetic attitude of the district administration.

The forum also demanded reopening of the closed Jan Ausadhi Kendra in the DHH for availability of all generic medicines.

The forum expressed its gratitude towards the State Government and the district administration for a 20-acre land allotted to it for construction of multipurpose establishments, including an old age home.

Laxmidhar Behera, Harmohan Dash, Archana Nandi, Girish Dash were, among others, were present at the meeting.
