nRegular air-ambulance service from Raipur was inaugurated at Swami Vivekananda Airport Raipur on Thursday.
State Health Minister TS Singh Deo inaugurated the service at the airport.
“Red Bird Aviation, a company based in Delhi has started a permanent air ambulance from Raipur. Earlier, air ambulances from Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur or similar other places had to be called to Raipur in case of medical emergency. Now this service will be available in Raipur,” Rakesh Sahay, Director Airport, informed.
The airport ambulance counter will be available 24X7. Now patients from Raipur will be able to reach medical hubs like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata in much shorter span of time.
As per airport officials, now air ambulance would be available within two hours of booking to fly out the patients. Two family members or attendants will be allowed in the plane. It will have a team of expert doctors and supporting staff to deal with any kind of emergency on the air.
According to Sahay, one flight will cost around Rs 80,000 per hour. Currently a double engine Beechcraft C-90 airplane is being used by the company as an air ambulance.
He termed the permanent air ambulance service from Raipur airport as an important landmark.
