The project supporters and displaced people postponed their agitation after Dhenkanal Collector discussed with OTPCL Marichakana Nuagaonbila Displaced Union leader Er Debashisha Hota and assured them that no work would be started at the displaced colony till fulfillment of their demands.
The displaced families sat on a dharna against forcible work at gunpoint by police officials.
Over 200 displaced families held the dharna at the Collector’s office. The union pressed for a 5-point charter of demands.
"If the OTPCL starts any work at the displaced colony without fulfilling the demands, then the displaced family members will commit suicide in front of the Collector’s office," warned Hota.
