Karnataka on Wednesday Reported 5,503 new cases of COVID-19 and 92 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 1,12,504 and the death toll to 2,147, the health department said.
The day also saw 2,397 patients getting discharged after recovery.
Out of 5,503 fresh cases reported today, a whopping 2,270 cases were from Bengaluru urban alone.
This is the sixth consecutive day that the state is reporting over 5,000 fresh cases.
As of July 29 evening, cumulatively 1,12,504 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 2,147 deaths and 42,901 discharges, the health department said in its bulletin.
It said, out of 67,448 active cases, 66,809 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable, while 639 are in ICU.
According to the statement, 30 out of 92 deaths reported today are from Bengaluru urban, followed by Kalaburagi (10), Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad (7), Mysuru (5), Davangere, Udupi and Hassan (4), Belagavi, Tumakuru and Gadag (3), Ballari, Uttara Kannada, Raichur and Bagalkote (2), and Chikkaballapura, Bidar, Vijayapura and Koppal (1).
Most of the dead are either with a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) or Influenza-like illness (ILI).
Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Bengaluru urban accounted for 2,270, Ballari 338, Belagavi 279, Davangere 225, Dakshina Kannada 208, Mysuru 200, Dharwad 175, Udupi 173, Kalaburagi 168, Shivamogga 131, Tumakuru 128, Yadgir 114, followed by others.
Bengaluru urban district tops the list of positive cases, with 51,091 infections, followed by Ballari 5,720 and Dakshina Kannada 5,306.
Among discharges also Bengaluru urban tops the list with 13,879 discharges, followed by Dakshina Kannada 2,456 and Kalabuagi 2,429.
A total of 12,75,761 samples were tested, out of which 32,990 were tested today alone, 16,995 being rapid antigen tests.
