Woman killed on sorcery suspicion in N’rangpur

Thursday, 31 October 2019 | PNS | NABARANGPUR

A woman was allegedly killed over sorcery suspicion at Gujumapadar village under Papadahandi block of the  district late on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Tulabati Santa. On the other hand, the two accused, Dhanu Santa and Radha Santa, involved in the killing of Santa, went underground. Reports said family members of Dhanu and Radha were sick for the last few days and they were suspecting that sorcery by Tulabati led to the deterioration of their health condition.

The two brothers dragged the woman out of her house while she was sleeping and thrashed her to death. Tulabati’s daughter-in-law also sustained injuries while trying to save her mother-in-law as the accused attacked her with an axe. On being informed, police reached the village, sent the body for post-mortem.
