Tension prevailed in the Utkal University (UU) campus here on Tuesday morning after a group of students staged a protest against delay in restoration of power supply in the hostels.
The irate students closed the main gate of the varsity demanding immediate steps to restore electricity in the hostels.
“Many hostel students did not go homes and stayed back in hostels to assist the NDRF team in rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of Cyclone Fani. But no one is paying any attention to connect electricity to the hostels even 11 days after the devastation. We are facing a lot of difficulties now,” said a protesting student.
When asked, the university authorities said electricity is being restored in the campus in a phased manner.
