Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has not even spared its own employees, including top officials of the department on power dues and has threatened to disconnect their power supply if they do not pay their pending dues within two days.
In fact, giving momentum to its ongoing drive to get its pending electricity dues cleared, PSPCL has disconnected electricity connections of several PSPCL and PSTCL employees for failing to clear their pending electricity dues.
A spokesman of PSPCL on Saturday advised employees to clear their electricity dues within two days, failing which their power connections will be disconnected on Monday.
He said that in summer season also, the Corporation had started the drive against power theft from its own top brass, including the Directors, Chief Engineers, SE’s, XEN etc. by getting fixation of meter seals and shifting of meters outsides the premises.
"Similarly, PSPCL has started recovery of the electricity bills from its own officials andemployees, setting an example," the spokesman said, adding that survival of any department is on the inflow of the revenue and in case of default, the smooth functioning the of the Department is adversely affected.
PSPCL has so far recovered an amount of more than Rs 56 lakhs from its 3591 PSPCL and PSTCL employees on account of recovery of pending electricity bills within the state.
In the Border Zone, an amount of Rs. 67,24,943 was pending from 3,620 PSPCL employees, PSPCL so far has recovered Rs. 45,31,813 from 3,327 Employees and 277 connections of PSPCL employees were disconnected.
In Central zone an amount of Rs. 12,61,000 is pending from 160 employees. In South Zone, an amount of Rs. 45,87,000 was pending from 622 PSPCL employees. PSPCL has so far recovered Rs 11,36,000 from 274 employees from December 01, 2019 to December 19, 2019 and 102 connections of PSPCL employees were disconnected. In North Zone, an amount of Rs. 1,95,710 is pending from 21 employees. The electricity connection of one employee disconnected.
PSPCL CMD, Baldev Singh Sran has advised the PSPCL and PSTCL employees to be the role model and clear all their dues in a timely manner to set an example. He also appealed officials and employees of various government department to ensure timely payments of the electricity bills to avoid disconnection.
