Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan laid foundation stone of the HPCL’s LPG bottling plant here and a new building of the Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir and Aviation fuelling Station at Jeypore on Tuesday.
Besides, he inaugurated railway foot over bridges at Rayagada, Ladda and Jimidipeta and a Post Office Passport Sewa Kendra at Nabarangpur.
Among others, former Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, HPCL CMD MK Surana, ED Rakesh Misri, Director S Jeyakrishnan, Post Master General Col Jaleswar Kanhar, Regional Post Master Sudhansu Mishra and DRM Mukul Sharan Mathur were present.
“A LPG bottling plant initiated in Bolangir last year and the bottling plant inaugurated today in Rayagada would help usher economic development and provide employment opportunities to the youth in the KBK region,” said Pradhan.
The bottling plant is scheduled to be completed by September 2020 with an investment of Rs 91 crore. It will have a bottling capacity of 60 MMTPA (42 lakh cylinders per year) with a 24-Head Electronic Carousel.
A total of 37.16 lakh LPG connections have been given in Odisha under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana since 2014 and the LPG coverage has increased from 20 per cent to 71.5 per cent during the last five years.
