Chhattisgarh Power Companies chairman Shailendra Shukla said cyclone Fani caused massive damage to power lines and electric poles in Raipur as uprooted trees, broken branches and hoardings fell on them.
After the cyclone hit the state and capital city, the power company employees worked on war-footing to restore the power supply, he added.
As per reports, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had directed the energy department to make all necessary arrangements to face the cyclone.
The first priority was given to large residential areas and fixing of those faults that can lead to restoration of power in larger areas.
Shukla said that in such a natural disaster the employees received public cooperation. He said that employees have to work to restore the power supply defying adverse weather condition.
Making an appeal to the people he said public cooperation helps in restoration of power supply at the earliest.
Shukla said that power companies are taking initiatives using new techniques and schemes like fixing four-core cable and dummy tower. The fore-core cable and dummy tower are used when the poles and lines take longer period to repair. So, these are used as temporary measures till the permanent repair is done.
