Power cos felicitated with Soubhagya awards

February 26 will be registered in golden letters in the history of Power Sector of Madhya Pradesh.

On Tuesday, the State’s Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Bhopal and Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company, Indore were awarded Soubhagya awards (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana) of Rs100 crore each at the National Conference of Energy Ministers at Gurgaon.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Energy, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh gave away the awards.

Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company received the first prize in Category-1 while Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company won the first prize in Category-2.

Additional Chief Secretary Energy ICP Keshari, former President and Managing Director MP Power Management Company Jabalpur and currently Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Managing Director Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Bhopal Sanjay Goyal received the award in the presence of State’s Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh.

Employees of the three power distribution companies of the state including Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company were also rewarded for excellence under Soubhagya Yojana. Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Bhopal of the state has become the country’s first power distribution company which has lit up 7 lakh 85 thousand 233 houses under Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana ‘Soubhagya’.

The Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company, Indore has electrified 4 lakh 4 thousand 284 houses.

Energy Minister Priyavrat Singh congratulated and extended best wishes to all officers and employees of production to transmission and distribution units including both the companies and all stakeholders associated particularly with Soubhagya Yojana.

He said that lighting up every household is the priority of the government. Providing continuous power supply to consumers of every category with industry and trade in the state is the goal of the state government.

The objective of the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana ‘Soubhagya’ by the Government of India’s on September 25, 2017 was to ensure power supply to BPL houses of all rural and urban areas of the country.

As soon as the scheme was announced, monitoring committees were formed at the distribution centre, tehsil, division, circle and district level. Targets were given to provide connections at various levels.  An electrical contractor team was formed at the district level.
