The state-owned National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited has stated that its Sipat Super Thermal Power Station (SSTPS) generated record 23907.12 million units (MUs) in 2018-2019 financial year with 91.58% plant load factor (PLF).
The capacity utilization or PLF achieved by the SSTPS was best among all the NTPC’s coal-fired plants, a press communiqué from the corporation said.
The PLF is the ratio of average power generated by the plant to the maximum capacity.
The NTPC's Sipat plant with an installed capacity of 2980 MW, was able to surpass its previous best of 23778 MUs achieved in 2016-17 financial year.
“Achieving an annual PLF of 91.58% against the national average of 61.01 % for coal-fired power stations, the plant has further been able to attain a leadership position based on its performance,” the NTPC communiqué said.
The Sipat station already received the most coveted Swarn Shakti Award for productivity in 2016-17 and 2017-18, it has also received the best township award for 2016-17.
The power station is also the first power plant of the NTPC where super critical technology and 765 KV transmission line was introduced.
