The responsibility of paying the Rs 3,000 crore power bills unpaid by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government has now come to the Kamal Nath government.

Taking a positive stand, Chief Minister Kamal Nath has given instructions to make arrangements to pay it.

Official sources said that the matter came to fore during a review of state's power economy.

It is evident that the Kamal Nath government started working with the collapsed economic system.

A case of serious irregularity came up in which the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has not paid the electricity bill of about Rs 3,000 crores purchased from various power companies. Taking the matter seriously, Kamal Nath took a positive stance.

Chief Minister Kamal Nath has instructed the officials to keep politics aside and make arrangements to repay the dues of whatever power the previous government purchased from various powercompanies.

At present, all the electricity companies of Madhya Pradesh have to pay the bill of about Rs 5900 crore of electricity purchased from different power companies. Out of this, the bill of about three thousand crores rupees remains unpaid by the previous government.

About Rs 900 crores of private companies, Rs 800 crores of NTPC, Rs 3500 crores of generating company and others like solar power, Rs 700 crores of wind power companies are yet to be paid.

The total payment is Rs 5900 crore of which about Rs 3000 crores has to be paid to different power companies from whom power was purchased.
