Joint efforts by energy department and power distribution companies have reduced significantly the problem of power tripping in the State.
The MPSEB has taken action against 492 employee and officials who were negligent and involved in irregularities in supplying power.
Two people have been arrested in Babai Hoshangabad while FIR has been registered against 6 unidentified people for power tripping by using wires in the power supply lines.
In Sehore and Bhopal districts FIR has been registered against two persons each and in Rajgarh and Hoshangabad districts FIR has been registered against one person each.
Additional Chief Secretary Energy IPC Kesari said that due to thundery activities and storm and other natural disturbances on April 16- 10387, on April 17- 6167, on April 18 -2186, on April 19-1639 and on April 20- 1500 power tripping cases were reported in the state.
On April 16 during the power tripping across all the feeders 14443 hours of power supply was interrupted while on April 20 the power supply was interrupted for 894 hours.
The demand for power is gradually increasing.
The maximum power demand in the month of April 2017-18 was 8177 MW which increased to 8434 in the year 2018-19 and in the year 2019-20 the demand peaked to 9443 on April 21 which was catered by MPSEB.
