The Red rebels after lying low for some time again wreaked havoc in the Maoist-infested district by targeting a road construction work on Monday. Sources said nearly 40 to 50 armed rebels swooped down on Kiribeda village under the Maithali police station and after terrorising the workers of the construction company torched a JCB machine and a tipper engaged in construction of a rural road.
The ultras also thrashed the drivers of the two vehicles and warned the other employees of dire consequences if they carried out any further work. Till filing of the report, the police were yet to reach the spot. The Maoists are against any kind of development in the region particularly against improved road communications because they fear security forces can easily make inroads into their territory
