Lawyers of Ganjam district, who are now on a four-day ‘court-boycott’ agitation, blocked the main road of the city at Kamapalli on Thursday to put pressure on the Government for establishment of a permanent Bench of the Orissa High Court here.
Earlier, Bar Association members holding placards and shouting slogans moved from the court premises and blocked the road. Association president Rabi Panigrahi, senior lawyers Basant Panda and Niranjan Nayak, former secretary Prakash Chandra Dash led the agitation and threatened that they would intensify the stir if the proposed HC Bench is not established in Brahmapur.
Among others, Association secretary Kailash Panigrahi, vice-president Chittarnjan Satpathy, joint secretary Kiran Mandal, former president Mohan Singari, former secretary Manoj Patnaik, Prasad Dora, Ashok Sukla and Dr Siva Prasad Mihsra participated.
