Jeypore artists' music video earns kudos

An epic music video ‘Subharambha’ was launched on ‘Panaa Sankranti’which is also the Odia New Year to mark a whole new beginning of Odia identity and content creation.

And true to its spirit, within no time, the video has taken the social media by storm. Besides normal viewers, eminent writers, poets and movie critics of Odisha are appreciating the video as it truly glorifies Odia culture and heritage.

It is the maiden music video of ‘UttisthataJagrata’ campaign named ‘Subharambha’, based on PanditGodabarishaMahapatra’s timeless classic ‘UthaKankala’. It was released on Youtube on April 14.

Produced by PanchabatiSrujanalaya in association with Jeypore Film Company the music video has been conceived by Tosh Nanda and directed by Vishal Patnaik (State award winning director for film ‘Chondalo’) with award-winning film production company ‘BnR Films’  being the official publicity partner.

Nanda, the convener of ‘UttisthataJagrata’ campaign, who is also the music composer, singer, editor and project designer said, “The sole objective of ‘UttisthataJagrata’ campaign and PanchabatiSrujanalaya is to rejuvenate the lost sense of pride in every Odia’s heart for their culture and roots using the medium of cinema. We intend to make more such Odia classics into music videos and cinema to preserve it for the generations to come.”

30 distinctive artists, cultural activists and ‘Swabhimani’ Odias from all over Jeypore have worked hard for ‘Subharambha’ irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The audience has unanimously embraced ‘Subharambha’ as a very positive sign for music and film industries alike. Critics have thoroughly appreciated the concept, acting, direction, music, cinematography, editing, VFX, production and design.

The team has achieved technical brilliance by their awe-inspiring dedication. Eminent singer Krishna Burea said, “When I watched the video, I was just speechless. I congratulate the entire team and want more timeless poetries to be converted into musical videos so that people of Odisha can realise its worth and proudly say we are Odia.”
