Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday told opposition Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati that he was very happy when the latter asked him whether he was happy.
As soon as Patnaik arrived in the House for the Assembly’s Winter Session, Bahinipati, known for his persistent sarcastic remarks against the State Government, asked him if he was happy.
“Sir, Apana Khusi Ta (Sir, are you happy?),” Bahinipati asked. Patnaik promptly responded, gesturing, “Mu Bahut Khusi (I am very happy).”
The brief exchanges between the two evoked humour in the House with members bursting into laughter.
Later outside the House, Bahinipati told reporters, “I asked the question to the Chief Minister because I found him not in a cheerful mood. I had no other intentions.”
Notably, in election meetings, Patnaik would ask the audience, “Apana mane Khusi Ta, Mu Bi Khusi (Are you all happy? I am also happy).”
