Hindu outfits not to celebrate Shaurya Diwas on Dec 6Lucknow

Hardline Hindutva outfits have decided to skip Shaurya Diwas celebrations and have planned to only light diyas to celebrate the demolition of Babri mosque on December 6.
Muslims, however, would continue to observe the day as Yaum-e-Gam (day of mourning).
Vishwa Hindu Parishad spokesperson Sharad Sharma on Friday said, ‘’Since the Supreme Court has given a verdict in favour of Ram temple, we have decided to mark the day by lighting lamps across temples in Ayodhya.”
The VHP, along with its affiliate outfits, has been celebrating Shaurya Diwas every year on December 6 as the Babri Masjid was demolished on this day in 1992.
This will be the 27th anniversary of Babri Masjid’s demolition. In its November 9 judgement, the Supreme Court has given the 2.27 acres of disputed land along with 67 acres of land around the site for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.
President of Anjuman Muhafiz-Masajid wa Maqabir (organisation to protect mosques and mausoleums) Haji Mahboob, who was one of the litigants in Ayodhya title suit, said in Lucknow on Friday that the mourning session will be held in the morning of December 6.
“For this, senior Muslim leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Zafaryab Jilani, have been invited. On Babri demolition anniversary, several Muslim organisations like Muslim League and Muslim Majlis will also hold programmes to mark ‘shahadat’ (martyrdom day),” he said.
Mahboob said that Muslims would continue to observe mourning for the demolition of Babri mosque.
He has already announced to file a review petition against the apex court judgement on Ayodhya title suit.
However, VHP has decided to end this tradition this year after the Supreme Court verdict. Central secretary of VHP, Purushottam Narayan Singh, said, “Ab to Ram ka mandir ban raha hai is liye hum long koi programme nahi karenge ((now Ram temple will be constructed, hence we won’t hold any such programme).
Before the apex court ruling, both VHP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had decided not to take out any celebratory march if the verdict came in favour of Ram temple.
The decision was taken at a RSS coordination committee meeting that was attended its chief Mohan Bhagwat and also by the core group of VHP.
The RSS had also appealed to everyone to ‘’respect the Supreme Court verdict, whichever way it came’’ and ‘maintain peace and harmony’ across the country.
