The High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur on Monday pulled up the state government and the construction agency involved in the four-laning of National Highway between Raipur and Bilaspur for the delay in completion of the work.
The court directed them to finish pending work by August 15.
The earlier deadline set by the High Court for the construction agency was May 2018.
During the hearing into the matter, the construction agency Punj and Lloyd cited financial crisis as the reason for delay. Another construction agency, involved in the project, L&T pleaded that it was due to shortage of cement that the 18 Kms work of four-laning could not be completed.
Meanwhile, during the hearing on Monday the construction agencies demanded time till July 31.
The High Court instructed the state government to make available to the agencies the requisite quantity of cement and asked the construction companies to complete the pending works by August 15, giving them more time than what was sought.
Notable, the work order for the four-laning work was issued in the year 2015 and the work was supposed to be completed by May 2018.
