Free power, unemployment allowance in JMM manifesto

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha on Tuesday came up with its poll manifesto promising several new initiatives to the people of the State, if the party led by Hemant Soren and supported by Congress and RJD comes to power. JMM executive president Hemant Soren and party chief Shibu Soren released the manifesto here on Tuesday along with senior colleagues.

Hemant said that the 19 page manifesto document, called as ‘Nishchay Patra’ has been prepared after carefully analysing the needs and aspirations of the people of the State and the JMM is committed to fulfil its promises once the party is voted to power.

The manifesto includes a number of alluring promises such as free electricity upto 100 units for all residents, unemployment allowance to youth in the tune of Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000 depending on their educational qualification, extra 10 per cent marks to job aspirants of rural areas in competitive examinations, 75 per cent jobs to locals in private sector companies, land plots to all landless people among others.

For local residents of the State the manifesto promises 27 per cent reservation for backward classes, 28 per cent for Scheduled Tribes and 12 per cent to the people of scheduled caste community.  It also promises direct recruitment of kin of martyrs in Government jobs and pension for the family members of martyrs and Jharkhand revolutionaries.

Hemant said that if the party is voted to power, it will ensure Rs 72,000 annually to poor families and they will also get Rs 3 lakh for constructing three-room houses. The manifesto further promises Rs 25,000 pension for widow, divyang and old age people alongwith facility of goods of day to day use at PDS shops.

For the farming community the JMM manifesto promises Kisan Bank, raised MSP for food grains, Rs 15,000 to farm labourers for self employment and Rs 13,500 per acre in case of destruction of crops due to natural calamity. For labourers the manifesto assures 150 days work under MGNREGA instead of 100 days.

Hemant also announced that all closed Government schools will be opened, computer education will be started in schools and 12th pass local youths will get students credit card with Rs 4 lakh credit limit.

The manifesto also promises abolition of licensing for cottage industries, new industrial policy with focus on employment of local youth, three new sub-capitals in State, mobile Government offices for ease of people, Jharkhand Advicates Act for safeguarding interest of advocates across the State.

The JMM also announced that it will reinstate the old pension rule for State Government employees.
