Capital city of Raipur witnessed delay of flights due to poor visibility at Swami Vivekananda Airport on Tuesday.
The flights for Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru were affected. The flights resumed after the Runway Visual Range (RVR) reported 1200 m as per standards.
Several parts of Chhattisgarh, including capital city Raipur, witnessed light rains on Monday bringing the temperature down. Due to fall in temperature and humidity, the fog was reported on Tuesday while the Meteorological department had also indicated of drop of temperature across the state from Monday.
According to Swami Vivekananda Airport, Director Rakesh Sahay, the visibility of runway was poor at around 6.00 am due to which no aircraft landed or took off as it was around 300 m against the requirement of 1200 m.
He informed that flight operations resumed after 9.50 AM after the visibility reached 1200 m. The flights affected were IndiGo 245 Kolkata to Raipur, IndiGo 2757 Delhi to Raipur, IndiGo 938 Hyderabad to Raipur, IndiGo 405 Bengaluru to Raipur and Air India 469 Delhi to Raipur.
