Bokaro district administration is all set to remove unauthorised slum adjacent to Bokaro airport boundary wall which puts a halt on the expansion and development work.
On the directive of district administration the Estate Court Bokaro executed on eviction order for the people resident in the slum surrounding the airport. The court has given an ultimatum to the encroachers to leave the spot immediately by 17 July.
The order also stated that, in view of the expansion and development of Bokaro Airport, the district administration will launch a special anti-encroachment drive from 22 July and administration will recover the demolition expanse from the encroachers.
Bokaro Deputy Commissioner KN Jha recently held a meeting with officials and discussed on several issues and also asked them to clear the encroachments. “The illegal houses that come up in the area were creating problems for expansion of the airport; all-out efforts would be made to make the areas encroachments free,” said an official.
The encroachment should have been removed earlier but it could not be, he said. “Over 400 houses (huts) along with Khatals are at this unauthorised slum in Sector XII of the Bokaro Steel City’s township area puts a halt on the expansion work would be razed out,” he said.
