DGP expels Inspector for misconduct, negligence

CUTTACK: DGP BK Sharma on Friday removed Inspector of Police Prafulla Kumar Sahu from Government service for his gross misconduct, dereliction of duty, disobedience of orders and for remaining absent from duty without permission for more than five years.

Sahu was removed from job as per the Rule 72 (2) of Odisha Service Code, informed an official release. On July 31, 2011, Sahu had been relieved from Keonjhar district to join his new place of posting in Balangir district. But he did not join his new posting on the plea of sickness without providing any supporting document of medical treatment. He also wilfully avoided show-cause notices issued in this regard from time to time. Further he intentionally avoided to appear before the CDMO Balangir for his medical examination.

After joining as DGP, Sharma has emphasised on zero tolerance towards persons who areindiscipline and wilfully neglecting Government duty as well as public service, informed therelease.
