While the BJP parliamentarian from Bhopal is drawing flak over her Godse remarks across the country, a Congress legislator on Thursday threatened to burn her alive if he catches her.
After several Congress leaders including Chief Minister Kamal Nath criticized the BJP MP for her statement praising Mahatma Gandhi Assassin Nathuram Godse in Lok Sabha, Congress MLA from Biaora in Rajgarh district courted controversy with his remarks targeted at the BJP leader.
The Congress MLA, Govardhan Dangi taking part in a protest against Thakur in Rajgarh on Thursday when asked whether Pragya Thakur's effigies would be burnt said, " not only the effigy, we would burn down Pragya Thakur if she comes here ever." Soon after the video of the set statement went viral in social media triggering a sort of controversy, the MLA later told it was only a slip of tongue. Commenting on the said Statement BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agrawal claimed that not only statement but an attempt to incite violence asking who would take responsibility for such remarks.
Replying to his question, Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi candidly claimed that the Congress Party believes in Gandhian ideology of nonviolence and criticised party MLA remarks.
Though he claimed that Dangi was a senior politician and he had said so out of anguish over Mahatma Gandhi insult and would realise his mistake during introspection. Chaturvedi also expressed regret on behalf of the party. Dangi claimed that he was deeply pained by Pragya Thakur insulting Mahatma Gandhi who according to him incarnation of God and is revered world over.
Affirming that his protest against the BJP MP would continue, Dangi claimed that he regrets his remarks.
Earlier Chief Minister Kamal Nath had asked Bharatiya Janata Party to to initiate action for revoking Pragya Thakur membership to Parliament saying unless the BJP does so, the country won't forgive the party for insulting Mahatma Gandhi.
Besides, MLA from Bhopal Arif Masood demanding termination of Pragya Thakur took out a procession in Bhopal on Friday.
