Chhattisgarh won first place in high-focus states category for better public health care systems, innovative and exemplary work for the year 2018-19 at 6th National Health Summit at Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Union minister for health and family welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan gave away the award. State health secretary Niharika Barik Singh and Mission Director, National Health Mission Dr Priyanka Shukla received the award. Health minister T. S. Singhdeo has extended greetings to health department officials for the achievement.
The selection was based on seven standards, mainly Niti Aayog ranking, district hospital operation, health and wellness centre, combating non-communicable diseases, mental health programme, human resources, information technology and effective vaccination programme.
Based on the ranking, additional budget allocation will be made for Chhattisgarh in health sector.
