Bharatiya Janata Party’s controversial MLA Surendra Singh, on Wednesday termed Congress president Rahul Gandhi as ‘Ravana’ and his sister and Congress general secretary for UP East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as ‘Surpanakha’.
The BJP MLA said that the Congress was a ‘sinking ship’ and it managed to defeat the BJP in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the recent assembly polls because of resentment in a section of society over Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes Act.
He claimed that the Congress had no political standing anymore and it would not win anywhere else in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Singh said that as Ravana sent his sister Surpanakha to defeat Ram, Rahul too had pitched Priyanka to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier, the MLA had supported his party colleague and MLA Sadhana Singh, who created a political furore by using derogatory language against Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati at a public meeting at Chandauli.
Defending Sadhna Singh, Surendra Singh had said that Mayawati’s decision to join hands with Samajwadi Party after the infamous 1995 Lucknow Guest House incident proved that she had no self-respect.
