In a major step towards Industry 4.0, for the first time in BHEL Bhopal, Barcode based Stores management system was launched at WEX stores. On March 30, in a simple ceremony, the Initiative was inaugurated by SM Ramanathan, General Manager (SOM), BHEL Bhopal.
MK Srivastava, General Manager (WEX, MOD), AGMs from various departments like Biplab Mondal,
Piyush Jain, NP Sanodia, Alok Johri, A Aurangabakar, Mahesh Ekka and Heeralal Baharani along with Officials from WEX and DTG departments were also present on this occasion.
The Barcode based Stores management system will significantly cut costs, reduce the time taken and eliminate the possibility of human error while receiving and issuing materials in stores and track inventory.
Wireless Barcode reader has been used in the project, which is portable and enables fast and reliable scans of materials of upto a distance of 50 metres. Also as a part of Digitalization initiative, Online Budget monitoring system for WEX and Field maintenance was launched.
Akash Chandra, Sr Engineer from WEX division and Vivek Pathak, DGM and Rajneesh Rai, Manager from DTG division have conceptualized and developed both the Initiatives. On this occasion, SM Ramanathan, congratulated the team and praised the efforts of the concerned officials from WEX and DTG, involved in the projects. MK Srivastava, stressed on the importance of Industry 4.0 based projects and further said that more and more of such projects should be implemented to increase productivity, cost efficiency, and business performance of the organization.
