The cybercrime cell of the Giridih police arrested two persons from Deoghar and Jamtara on Sunday for allegedly defrauding a Saria city-based man to the tune of Rs 84,000 by cheating him through BHIM mobile payment App in this month
The duo also have duped many people from other places, the Cyber Dy SP Sandip Suman Samdarshi said on Monday, urging citizens to approach the police if they have been duped similarly.
A team, headed by himself and senior inspector, sub-inspector, and other forces arrested the duo identified as Halim Ansari (23) and his cousin brother Riyaz Ansari (21). Both are native of Jamtara and Deoghar in Jharkhand. Police also recovered bike, smart phones and dozen ATM cards from them, said police sources.
Cyber Dy SP said that Prakash Gupta a businessman of Saria in Giridih had came contact with them through BHIM mobile payment App and cheated by them of Rs 84,000 for purchasing mobile.
Cyber Dy SP Samdarshi said that police arrested the duo after ascertaining the bank account details and the Internet Protocol address used to execute the crime.
A case against them has been registered with the police station and their interrogation is going on.
