10 depts now to function in Kharavel Bhawan

As many as 10 Government departments will operate in the Kharavel Bhawan inaugurated here recently as an extension of the Lok Seva Bhawan (State Secretariat).

A decision was taken in the all Secretaries’ meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy in the Kharavel Bhawan for the first time.

Reviewing the basic facilities and connectivity available in the building, the Chief Secretary directed the identified ten departments to start operating from the new building soon. The Departments of Labour and ESI, Industry, Micro Small and Medium Enterprise, Housing and Urban Development, Forest and Environment, Energy, Science and Technology, Skill Development and Technical Education, Commerce and Transport, Electronic and Information Technology would function from this new building.

Finance Secretary Ashok Meena appraised that the total revenue collection up to August, 2019 grew by around seven per cent over the same period of last fiscal year. The non-tax revenue increased by 12 per cent over previous year and the augmentation of revenue from own tax sources increased by five per cent. The total revenue collection increased to around Rs 12,315 crore against the last year collection of Rs 11, 758 crore.

It was also revealed that the total programme expenditure up to August was declined by four per cent in comparison to the same period of last fiscal year. The programme expenditure till August 2018 was around 32 per cent of the budget provision against which the expenditure till August 2019 was 28 per cent of the budgeted allocation. Tripathy directed to expedite implementation of the projects.

Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra appraised that total collection under DMF up to August,2019 was Rs 8,252 crore against which the Rs,8,067 crore was allocated for 12,664 projects. Around 71 per cent of the funds i.e. 5,722 crore  was allocated to 9,241  projects under priority activities of DMF. Out of this, 73.50 per cent was utilised till August, 2019. Emphasising on implementation of 5T action agenda, Tripathy directed departments to fix quantitative targets with milestones and time lines.
