Stressing on his government’s commitment to controlling crime against women Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that his government’s priority is to empower women in all sectors so that they can match men.
“This is a history that women now do not lag behind men. They are now giving a good fight to men in any field be it administration or sports. The BJP Government in Uttar Pradesh is committed to sport women and ensure their progress in fields of their choice,” Yogi said while addressing a function held here on Sunday.
He talked about his government’s women-only schemes which include setting up of anti-Romeo squad, 1090 Women Power line and 181 a helpline for women who are subjected to domestic violence. He also announced that Punam Yadav, the wrestler from Uttar Pradesh who won Gold in just concluded Commonwealth games would be promoted as Deputy SP in Uttar Pradesh Police. He said his government instituted Rani laxmibai Award and three women exclusive battalion for special force will be set up.
Chief Minister also congratulated the girls who topped the Uttar Pradesh Board Examination, whose results were declared on Sunday. “The girls have brought laurels not only to their family but also to the village and district they belong. WE will honour the meritorious students as we did last year,” he said.
Talking about crime against women he said beginning is made from sex determination tests. The need of the hour is to stop the crime against women and for this family should play a decisive role, he said.
“Our government had sent a proposal to the Union Government to award capital punishment to rapists who rape a girl below 12 years of age and the Central Government has accepted that rapists. This is a stringent law but this law will not stop rapes. The society should come forward and fight this evil at homes and work place,” Chief Minister said.
He said that it is a sin to remain silent on the increase on crime against women. “Raise your voice against the crime against women and the BJP government will extend protection to the whistle blowers,” he said.
