Protests at IMFA plant called off

Saturday, 30 June 2018 | PNS | RAYAGADA

The agitation in front of the Therubali plant of IMFA in the district was withdrawn by the agitating locals on Friday following assurances by the plant authorities that their demands will be fulfilled within three months.

This development came after a tripartite meeting between the district administration, protestors and IMFA authorities took place.

“Today at the meeting, the agitators wanted to know what measures have been taken by the company. As already the compliance reports along with proceedings were submitted by IMFA, they were read out and each point was discussed. All the concerned stakeholders have been asked to work for the welfare of the State,” said Rayagada Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, who presided over the meeting.

The protestors’ leader Jitu Jakasika said that they would call off the agitation as the authorities have agreed to fulfill their demands. “The authorities have given written assurances and informed us to fulfill some our demands within a specific time and others within next two to three months,” said Jakasika.
