Expressing deep concern over the “lackadaisical” attitude of the State Government towards college employees, the All Odisha Non-Government Aided and Unaided College (+2 and +3) Teaching and Non-Teaching Employees Association on Sunday threatened to begin indefinite cease-work agitation on January 7 next.
“After holding a Ministerial-level meeting on July 20 this year, the Government had assured the association that all teaching and nonteaching staffs appointed after 2008 by college management committees will be brought to the Grant-in-Aid (GIA) fold by November 30. Going by this decision, the association provided all support to the Government. However, the decision has not yet been implemented,” expressed association general secretary Dr Ramesh Chandra Behera.
Behera said all lecturers would boycott classes and examinations and take to the streets across the State from January 7 if the demand is not met by then.
He said the decision was taken at an executive meeting held here on Sunday. Among others, Dr Naba Kishore Mishra, general secretary Satya Narayan Bagarty, working president Deepak Kumar Sahoo, convenor Rajkishoer Barik and Dibaker Sahoo were present.
