The State Government on Tuesday increased the minimum daily wages of unskilled, semiskilled, skilled and highly-skilled labourers.
A gazette notification in this regard was issued by the Labour and ESI Department.
As per the notification, the minimum daily wage of unskilled labourers was hiked from the Rs 200 to Rs 280, semiskilled workers from Rs 220 to Rs 320, skilled workersfrom Rs 240 to Rs 370 and highly-skilled workers from Rs 260 to Rs 430. The State Minimum Wages Advisory Board and the State Government revised the minimum wage after three years taking into account factors like inflation rate, increase in consumer index price and prevailing minimum wage in neighbouring States and the prevailing rates in market.
Besides, the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) will be revised every six months in the interest of labourers, said a release.
