The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested notorious gansgster Vinod alias Dada after a brief encounter on Sunday.
Dada is involved in over a dozen criminal cases and was wanted by the police of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. He had recently tried to kidnap an Agra-based businessman for a ransom of Rs 10 crore. Dada, a sharpshooter of Neetu Daboda gang, had come under the police radar after his name figured in the abortive kidnap bid.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, PS Kushwah said, “Vinod @ Dada @ Pandit (age 40 years), a resident of Jhajjar district in Haryana, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday after an exchange of fire in the paper market of Gazipur in East Delhi.
Dada was injured in his left leg in this exchange of fire but his associate Ashok Pradhan escaped taking advantage of darkness from the spot after firing at the police party. One semi-automatic pistol of .32 and 6 live cartridges were recovered from Vinod from the spot. One bike stolen from the area of police station Vijay Nagar Ghaziabad has also been seized from spot”.
“During the encounter more than a dozen rounds were fired. Eight empty shells were recovered from the spot. Six rounds were fired by police in self-defence. More than 6 rounds were fired by the desperados. Dada was previously involved in more than a dozen cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, robbery, assault, intimidation, theft etc. in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh”, the DCP said.
“There was information with Special Cell about the movements of Dada and his association with the gang of Neetu Daboda-Paras (both since dead). After the death of Neetu and Paras, he joined the gang of Ashok Pradhan. It is worth mentioning that Ashok Pradhan is a highly dreaded gangster having reward of Rs. 2 lakh from Delhi and Haryana. As per information, Dada had made his hideout in New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, for the last six months. Inspector Shiv Kumar deputed his sources to gather information about Vinod and his associates in the area. From their surveillance, it was revealed that Vinod had reorganized his gang and has procured good quality illegal weapons to commit crimes. Kushwah added.
Preliminary examination of Vinod alias Dada has revealed that he was lodged in Rohtak jail in the year 2001 in a case. Ashok Pradhan and Neetu Daboda were also lodged in the same jail where he came into contact with them. He thereafter joined Neetu Daboda gang. After coming out from jail, he alongwith Neetu Daboda and other associates committed kidnapping for ransom and extorted money. Vinod was arrested alongwith Neetu Daboda and others in a case of attempted daocity in the year 2005 in Paschim Vihar area. He is involved in more than a dozen cases of heinous nature i.e. 1 of murder, 4 of attempt to murder and other cases of assault, dacoity, robbery, extortion etc. Neetu Daboda died in an exchange of fire with the police of Special Cell on July 2, 2013. Paras and Pradeep Bhola were killed by Neeraj Bawana and his associates in a jail van in the year 2015. After the death of both these gangsters,
the gang of Neetu Daboda weakened and Vinod associated himself with Ashok Pradhan. Brother of Ashok Pradhan was killed by the members of Neeraj Bawana gang.
