Tuesday, 03 July 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

The very first day of the monsoon session of Chhattisgarh Assembly turned out to be stormy with the Opposition Congress members raising the sleaze CD case issue and the reported suicide of one of the accused in the case — Rinku Khanuja.

Opposition members while raising the issue of death of Rinku Khanuja, sought acceptance of adjournment motion and immediate discussion on the issue.

Congress member Bhupesh Baghel stated that the wife of Rinku Khanuja had written to the Superintendent of Police in Raipur that her husband's death is not a case of suicide but of murder. Deputy leader of  Opposition Kawasi lakhma said that citizens are not safe in Chhattisgarh.

He said that such an incident had occurred in capital city and sought discussion while Congress member Dhanendra Sahu urged Chair to accept the motion.

While raising the issue, the Opposition members created ruckus while compelling Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal to adjourn the proceedings for five minutes.

When the House re-assembled, the Opposition members once again raised the reported suicide issue of Rinku Khanuja while raising slogans and rushed towards the Well of the House.

The Speaker said that the information has been received for adjournment motion moved by the member.

The Speaker later suspended the Opposition members who rushed to the Well of the House as per the Assembly rules. The Speaker had asked the Opposition members to go out of the House.

The Speaker later withdrew the suspension of the Opposition members. But once again they started to create ruckus, and he then adjourned the House proceedings till Tuesday.

Earlier, Minister Prem Prakash Pandey said that the sleaze CD case is being investigated by CBI which is a Government Agency hence the discussions on the issue cannot be taken up in the House.

Congress Member Bhupesh Baghel said that there has been no forensic probe while the post-mortem report is yet to be released.

leader of Opposition T. S Singhdeo said that local police is probing the case of death and Opposition is seeking discussion on it.
