Under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, Delhi Public School, Dehradun is now hosting ‘DPS National Badminton Tournament Girls (Open). It started on Monday and would continue on Tuesday at its campus. The chief guest for the day was D R Saini, director, Delhi Public Society, New Delhi. Besides, Shashi Singh, pro vice-chairperson, M P Singh Foundation, B K Singh, principal, Delhi Public School, Dehradun and Shubra Pande Tiwari, vice-principal, DPS, Dehradun were present on the occasion.
Saini said in his address that true sportsmanship means chasing the goal intelligently and the hard work involved in achieving the goal. The principal, Singh said in his address that the sports has opened multiple doors and has set up dreams before the youngsters. He also stated that such tournaments provide increased opportunities to identify and hone talent and beget future sports champions for the nation.
In all, 29 teams from across the country are participating in the tournament. The opening match was played between DPS Gurgaon and DPS Vidyut Nagar, the organisers said.
