The State Government has decided to set up a Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) by merging the existing Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Services and Cuttack Transport Services.
The proposal to set up the new transport organisation to provide bus services in the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Konark urban area was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday.
A recommendation has also been made to constitute a Board of Directors of the new transport agency being headed by the Development Commissioner, a CMO Press release said.
Besides, the Secretaries of the Home, Commerce & Transport, Housing & Urban Development Departments, the Transport Commissioner, the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate police, the IG of Police (Central Range), the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central), the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Vice-Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer of Bhubaneswar Smart City limited, the Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) Vice-Chairman, the Puri Konark Development Authority (PKDA) Chairman and three other persons having knowledge in the field of transport would be appointed as the members of the CRUT.
The CRUT would have Rs 1 crore as the paid-up capital with the BDA and the CDA having 60% and 20% share, respectively.
